I have been a Batman fan forever.Period!
And I am not ashamed to admit that!
I have been reading the adventures of Bruce Wayne and his counterpart for many a year, and I have enjoyed many of his exploits, but today I read issue 663, written by Grant Morrison and painted visuals by John Van Fleet .
The story is about the Joker, while again incarcerated in Arkham, is having the killing of his older thugs and cronies, being done for him by Harley Quinn.
This particular story is broken down into ten separate vignettes, and while I usually can read a comic in less than 30 minutes ( well, between looking at the art and reading the storyline ) this particular comic took me an hour to finish, and I will probably re-read this one just to the pure enjoyment.
My feeling is that this is a tale that actually could have been fleshed out a bit more and actually made into a graphic novel.
I was pleasantly surprised when two of the henchmen that were on the Joker’s hit list, were actually from another Batman tale, ” The Killing Joke “, which shows me that DC doesn’t just throw out it’s continuity.
All in all, this was an enjoyable tale of the Batman and his arch nemesis and might I add foil, the maniacal Joker.
IDW’S Fallen Angel-Excellent Reading
April 13, 2007 at 10:26 am | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a commentI started reading this series that was originally a DC Comics property, and I have to say..
” Shame on you ” dc comics for letting this series fall by the wayside. Luckily for me ( and for you also ) IDW decided they liked the series and went a little further and gave us the the fallen angel’s origin.
I am really enjoying this series and I’m almost caught up with my reading of back issues.
Idol Garbage..To Sanjaya or not to Sanjaya…
April 7, 2007 at 1:38 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a commentI read a similar post this morning on the Sanjaya issue, so I will make this short and to the point…American Idol, in my opinion has always been a Simon Cowell vehicle, and we the American Public ( yes this means YOU! ) have bought into it, lock, stock , and barrel! Does it really surprise anyone, that this show of garbage is finally getting it’s come uppence from said American public? Not to me it’s not! Maybe, this will be the season that tanks this show, and takes a couple of other ” not worth my time, or the general public’s time “, off the boob tube already! Can someone say ” Dancing With The Stars ?”
Spidey 3 vs Transformers
April 7, 2007 at 1:27 pm | Posted in comics | Leave a commentOkay, this morning I’ve been to both movie sites and I gotta say that I was really impressed with the tailer for Transformers. Is it going to do as well as the third installment in the saga of everyone’s favorite webspinner? Probably not, but that’s not to take anything away from Transformers, it’s just that it’s up against the immovable object in what is the third in the Spidey series ( dare I say Marvel cash cow! ) but I predict that what Transformers doesn’t do at the box office, it will make up for in dvd rentals and sales, when it is finally released. And expect everyone to pick up the ” Special Edition ” of the Transformers Movie.
To Otogi or not to Otogi?
March 4, 2007 at 1:53 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a commentI bought the series ” Otogi Zoushi ” in it’s box set, and I have yet to finish this series. Mind you, I bought the series back in October with the idea I would be done enjoying it by December and be able to review the series by then.
Ah, but we all know about the ” best laid plans ” and all that.
So, I guess I shall Otogi again ( yes all the episodes ) real soon, and when I’ve completed the series, I shall have a review for you all to read.
But, just so we’re clear, I’m behind on everything have have been trying to either read, play or listen to or watch in general so again another cliche ” patience is a virtue!”
A World Without Heroes…Kingdom Come
March 2, 2007 at 2:10 am | Posted in comics | Leave a comment” Look….up in the sky…. it’s a bird…. it’s a plane…IT’S SUPERMAN! “
Yes, I used to loved that simple statement and still do today. I think that when we think of iconic superheroes, the first name that rolls off our lips is Superman, but why is that?
Okay here comes my shameless plug now…one might only read the story of “ Kingdom Come ” to get the real answer to the above question….
As a baby, sent from the doomed planet Krypton, baby Kal-El, would be found by a kindly couple in the fields of Smallville, Kansas. The baby is adopted by this couple, Martha and Jonathan Kent, and the baby is raised as their own son. They name him Clark, and they teach him the lessons of right and wrong, and as Clark’s powers and abilities start to manifest under the Earth’s yellow sun, he is taught to use his abilities for the good of man. And thus, a legend is born…..continued here

Also on tap is the ” Fallen Angel ” series by IDC. I will be writing a post which I am very proud to write after having finished reading ” Ultimate Kingdom Come “. I will be posting the beginning of this here on WordPress and than continue it on my new Fanboy Blog.
Civil War Ends…
February 25, 2007 at 3:56 am | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a commentWell I picked up the final issue of Marvels seven issue event ” Civil War “, and after reading the final issue three times, I have to say that it was really kinda bland for me. This big war ended ( if you haven’t read this series yet or this issue, stop reading NOW!!!!!!!!!!) with several highlights and probably some of the most improbable twists in any story I have read in a long time, and in my opinion one of these twists has to be the biggest cop-outs of the whole mini series!
Can you say….Tony Stark, Shield Director, and shaking hands with the president…..
and Steve Rogers, the living legend, Captain America, surrenders ( the biggest disappointment for me in the whole series ) and is put in jail!
Best Civil War moments….
Cap beating the crap out of Iron Man with his shield! That was just awesome, it’s too bad that Cap got waylaid by civilians!
Frank Castle becomes involved in the War, for a while on the side of Cap and his renegades, with flashbacks of a pre-punisher Castle taking training from the legend himself, and getting his ass handed to him by same said legend and not lifting a finger to defend himself because of his respect and admiration for the man and the costume he wore and the ideals he represents!
The return of Thor! Not!!
It was a Thor clone, created by Reed Richards.
Imperious Rex!
Namor and the troops arrive to turn the tide and help an old friend, and was totally unexpected by yours truly.
Hercules totally destroys another Thor with his own uru hammer!
This one looks to have been an android.
And the most disappointing for me….
Captain America surrenders!
The whole story just becomes unbelievable to me when this happens. Even when it is for the right reasons, the picture of Steve Rogers in an American prison and Tony Stark on the bridge of a Shield Helicarrior as the new director just does not ring true for me after all that I had seen happen in this series.
I have read the last issue of Civil War
February 23, 2007 at 11:43 am | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a commentI have read the last issue of ” Civil War “, and I will give you my impresssions and more later today.
Civil War…A ” House of M ” Nightmare?
February 18, 2007 at 2:22 pm | Posted in comics | 1 CommentWhen I stopped into my local comics shop hangout a few weeks back, my friend and sales person Pete and I got into another conversation about ” Civil War “, albeit short but Pete threw out this little thought…” what if Civil War is actually a ” House of M ” event?
How many of you have ever watched the evening soap opera/drama ” Dallas “?
In it’s heyday, Dallas was one of the few shows that I just had to watch, but it also had it’s lame moments….like the ” it was all a DREAM ” Bobby season, where we find out that his wife Pam, isn’t actually dead…it was a year long dream!
Well, here’s an unlikely ( and probably twisted )view of how this might become a 7 issue
” House of M ” dream…..Steve Rogers steps out of a shower, goes to his bathroom mirror and see’s a 48 year old, lanky person and is totally dismayed….what has happened to me and shouts out ” Honey!”…..” Wanda, what’s happened to me? “
An overweight Wanda Maximmoff walks into the room and slaps Steve in the face and yells at him I’ll tell ya what’s happened to you, I stopped giving you your medicine because I’m tired of my worthless excuse of a husband thinking he is a World War Two hero, who ran around in tights with a Red, White and Blue shield, and your not some SUPER HERO fugitive, running from the government and someone named Tony Stark! She slaps him again and yells snap out of it, there is no CIVIL WAR!
Than, Steve Roger’s world goes WHITE…..and in the next scene we see Magneto standing over his still insane daughter, Wanda in his safe-hold on the island of Genosha. He stares at his sleeping daughter, wondering what she might be dreaming of that has put a smile across her lips….in a large, padded cell we see a person tied in a straight jacket, gagged, his eyes wide, tears streaming out, and Steve Rogers can only scream in side his mind…and the last scene is a fade out of the cell, which has a clip board hanging on it that says the following…..Shield Containment cell, subject Steve Rogers, Captain America; Diagnosis: Constant Medical Breakdowns:Dementia, Memory Lapses: …..
Physician….Doctor Stephen Strange….and we fade to black….How’s that for a dream sequence!
