I can't argue the point about Marvel trumping up the series, and I have to say that I was just in my local comics shop " Main Street Comics " ( shameless plug for you Pete! ) and what did I behold but a comic with just a white cover titled " The Return ", which is a way to bring back the long dead Capain Marvel back into the fold. I asked Pete about this, and his reply was " wasn't Bucky dead? "
I could also mention the return of the dead Jason Todd, so dead doen't mean dead in the comics world, but I was turned off as to the fact that the Captain Marvel book was tied into the Civil War plot line with the suppossed plotline that the Sentry does a little time travel to bring the Captain in to the future because he is needed.

I'll comment about this developement if I buy the book, but you have to remember that while comics are entertainment, it is still a big business and that is the bottom line.

marvel trumped it up to be a big (smart) moral/political/social epic. that sounds great, until you realize that the series is REALLY about endless brainless spandex battle scenes and slick looking splash pages.

boring.

i killed my subscription after issue 5.

Hi Hobbylobby.

Not sure that I agree with that assesment thou. I will say that I really hate it when any comic company makes what they consider an
" EVENT " and market the event with the idea of having to purchase all the comic " Tie-Ins " that almost always go along with said event just to market and bring extra sales to lagging titles.
That definitly puts a dent in your comic buying budget.
That being said, I just finished issue six this morning, and I can't wait for the fall out from all this.

The last page speaks for itself I believe.

Hi Thanks for the comment. Civil War has gotten hotter since this post, with the apperance of Thor, and Frank Castle aka The Punisher entering the fray. I have issue # 6 ready to read right now, and while I am not a big fan of " Tie In " books for a special event, I have read an issue or two of Spiderman, and The Punisher Civil War special edition, with one more issue to go it will be interesting to see the outcome of this series.
